Bladder cancer is a cancer that starts in the bladder (the part of the body that holds and releases urine, located in the lower abdomen). Bladder cancers usually start from the cells lining the bladder, and typically affects older adults (although it can occur at any age). Most bladder cancers are diagnosed at an early stage, and are highly treatable.
- Symptoms of bladder cancer can include:
- Abdominal pain
- Blood in the urine, or discoloration of urine
- Painful, frequent, or urgent urination
- Urine leakage (incontinence)
- Back or pelvic pain
